Blessed are the Poor Initiative

Healing should never depend on what you can afford.

MyCatholicDoctor serves every patient with dignity, regardless of their ability to pay.

Serving Patients Who Cannot Afford Care

At MyCatholicDoctor, we believe every person deserves compassionate, life-affirming health care. Through the Blessed Are the Poor Initiative, we provide free and reduced-price medical care to uninsured and underinsured patients — ensuring that financial hardship never prevents someone from encountering Christ’s healing love.

Our clinicians generously donate thousands of hours each year. Yet even volunteer care carries costs — technology, malpractice coverage, and essential support that make this ministry possible.

Your generosity bridges the gap, allowing MyCatholicDoctor to extend care to the most vulnerable among us.

Why This Matters

  • We are one of the few nationwide Catholic telehealth providers offering care regardless of ability to pay.
  • Our clinicians collectively donate thousands of clinical hours each year in service to the poor.
  • Each encounter provides both healing and hope, uniting medicine with mission.

How You Can Help

Pray
Join us in praying for those who cannot afford care, and for the clinicians who serve them with generosity and faith.

Give

  • $250 provides one full visit for a patient in financial hardship
  • $1,000 supports malpractice coverage for a clinician providing free care
  • $5,000 expands our charity-care grants to serve more uninsured families

When you give to the Blessed Are the Poor Initiative, you’re not only helping a patient receive care — you’re helping them encounter the love of Christ through compassionate medicine.

A ministry sustained by generosity and grace

  • Between September 2024 and August 2025, MyCatholicDoctor provided $70,101 in charity care grants to qualified patients — supporting 4,550 reduced-price visits and 760 visits at no cost.
  • For 2026, we project 3,890 hours of free clinical care through this initiative.

A Ministry Rooted in the Gospel

This work is inspired by Christ’s words:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:3

Every reduced-price appointment, every free visit, and every moment of accompaniment is a modern expression of this beatitude. The poor and the poor in spirit remind us of our shared dependence on God — and our shared mission to bring His mercy to those in need.

When we care for the sick who cannot pay, we live out the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, bearing witness to the truth that health care is not a privilege, but a ministry of love.
