Kathleen Berchelmann, M.D.

President, Board of Directors

Pediatrician & entrepreneur who is re-imagining Catholic healthcare to make it accessible & affordable without changing timeless values.

Dr. Berchelmann is a pediatrician, wife, mother of seven, and co-founder of MyCatholicDoctor. She sees patients from birth through young adulthood. Her practice includes all general pediatric and adolescent medical needs. She is commonly consulted by families desiring a faith-based approach to depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, and autistic spectrum disorder. She speaks nationally on vaccines derived from aborted fetal tissue, also known as human diploid cell line vaccines.

She is board certified in Pediatrics and a member of the Catholic Medical Association.

In 2018 Kathleen and her husband Greg decided to make MyCatholicDoctor a reality, using telemedicine, a network of faithful physicians, and innovative healthcare reimbursement models to make Catholic healthcare available to all people.

After graduating from Amherst college in 1998, she completed a fellowship in medical ethics at Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Kathleen graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2003, and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

She stayed on as clinical faculty at Washington University School of Medicine for another ten years. For seven years Dr. Kathleen Berchelmann served as Spokesperson for St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University, active in the national media while continuing to practice clinical medicine. As the director of a group of media-physicians, Dr. Berchelmann learned to use health-media as a marketing initiative. With the assistance of her husband Greg’s skills in IT and SEO, Dr. Berchelmann became an expert in “physician driven media,” an effort to push evidence-based health information to the media through multiple platforms, including local and national print and online publications, television, radio, and social media.

Dr. Berchelmann’s former blog, ChildrensMD, had more than 1 million page views per month. Her work has been featured in/on: Time Magazine, NPR, FoxNews, Parents Magazine, Good Housekeeping Magazine, KSDK News Channel 5 St. Louis, Fox2 St. Louis, KMOV News Channel 4 St. Louis, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, multiple radio shows, and hundreds of other print and online publications.

During her years in health-media, Dr. Berchelmann became increasingly involved in Catholic Media, including a regular weekly slot on the SonRise Morning Show with Sacred Heart Radio. Questions flooded in from families desperately seeking Catholic health care providers they could trust. Eventually, Greg and Kathleen started a website called CatholicPediatrics and hosted a nationwide list of pediatricians who incorporate their Catholic faith into their practice of medicine. But people wanted more– they wanted Catholic psychiatrists, women’s health specialists, end-of-life care, and more. This led Kathleen and Greg to found MyCatholicDoctor.

In 2016, Kathleen accepted a faculty position at The University of Missouri School of Medicine with a clinical appointment in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. In 2018 she accepted a part time position as a pediatric hospitalist at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut. She continues in that position while working full time for MyCatholicDoctor.

Kathleen and Greg Berchelmann live in Connecticut with their children.
